WMS Specialist

Gloucester City, NJ
JPC Partners is looking for a WMS Specialist – 3PL Distribution & Cold Chain that will support day‑to‑day warehouse operations by ensuring the Warehouse Management System (WMS) accurately reflects all client inventory, workflows, and service-level requirements. This role works directly with supervisors, leads, associates, and account managers to maintain system accuracy, troubleshoot workflow issues, and ensure smooth execution across refrigerated, frozen, and ambient environments.
As a member of the operations team, the WMS Specialist must balance client‑specific rules, multi‑warehouse workflows, food-safety standards, and 3PL SLAs to keep the operation running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
Multi‑Client Daily Operations Support
  • Support WMS workflows for multiple clients, each with unique receiving, picking, and shipping requirements.
  • Monitor system tasking across ambient, cooler, and freezer zones to ensure work releases correctly by client, priority, and SLA.
  • Resolve real-time WMS exceptions such as incorrect allocations, short picks, mismatched lots, frozen tasks, or RF device errors.
  • Assist shift leaders and client support teams by providing WMS visibility into order status, aging orders, dock activity, and backlog.
Client-Specific WMS Setup & Configuration
  • Configure client profiles including SKU onboarding, attributes (lot, temp zone, dates, allergens), and storage rules.
  • Maintain client-specific workflows for FEFO, catch weight, labeling, pack size, and compliance requirements.
  • Support onboarding of new clients into the WMS, including data setup, item master validation, slotting logic, and operational testing.
  • Ensure 3PL customer-specific routing guides, labeling standards, and allocation logic are properly configured.
Inventory Accuracy & Compliance
  • Partner with Inventory Control to maintain accuracy across multiple clients.
  • Support traceability, recall preparation, and audits required in food distribution environments.
  • Investigate shrink, spoilage, and mis‑rotations with an emphasis on client reporting accuracy.
Reporting & SLA Management
  • Generate detailed operational reports for multiple clients.
  • Provide insights to client account managers and warehouse leadership to help maintain SLA performance.
  • Flag risks proactively (aging product, expiring lots, inbound delays, slotting congestion).
Training & SOP Enhancement
  • Train associates and leads on RF workflows, client-specific picking requirements, date-code scanning, and cold‑chain handling processes.
  • Help create client-specific SOPs, cheat sheets, labeling instructions, and workflow maps.
  • Reinforce compliance with FSMA, HACCP, and any client‑mandated food‑safety or quality standards.
Continuous Improvement in a 3PL Environment
  • Support process improvement initiatives across clients, including slotting changes, layout optimization, and efficiency projects.
  • Participate in WMS testing for new clients, new features, and site expansions.
  • Identify systemic inefficiencies (e.g., wave size, pick path, replenishment timing) and propose operational fixes.
Qualifications
Required
  • 2+ years in a 3PL warehouse or food distribution environment (cooler/freezer preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience with WMS platforms (Manhattan, JDA / Blue Yonder, Körber / HighJump, Infor, SAP EWM, Synapse, Oracle WMS, etc.).
  • Experience with Blue Yonder strongly desired.
  • Solid understanding of multi-client workflows, SLAs, and 3PL operational structure.
  • Knowledge of FEFO/FIFO, expiration management, allergen control, and cold-chain best practices.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to support frontline employees and solve operational issues in real time.
  • Comfortable working in cold and freezer environments as needed.
Preferred
  • Experience onboarding new clients into a WMS environment.
  • Familiarity with EDI-driven inbound/outbound orders common in 3PL (940, 945, 944, 943, 856).
  • Understanding of client billing triggers (storage, handling, value-added services, accessorials).
  • Intermediate Excel and reporting / dashboard skills.
Key Competencies
  • Strong communicator with frontline and client-facing teams
  • Detailed and process-driven
  • Ability to balance multiple client needs simultaneously
  • Quick decision-maker under time pressure
  • Strong ownership of data accuracy and SLA compliance
  • Continuous improvement mindset, especially in high-volume 3PL operations
