Security Engineer

JPC Partners is looking for a skilled Security Engineer to join the team and play a pivotal role in maintaining the security of a dynamic tech stack. In this role, you will conduct security assessments, prioritize remediation actions, and collaborate closely with Product and Operations teams to enhance our security posture.
You will also design and maintain security controls, enhance monitoring, and foster a security-first culture across the company. This position offers the chance to work on a dynamic tech stack and make significant contributions to our security posture.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough security assessments and prioritize remediation actions based on risk assessment and impact analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT Operations and Software Development teams to integrate security measures into systems and processes to ensure timely resolution of identified security vulnerabilities.
  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls for applications and infrastructure components to mitigate risks and adhere to industry best practices.
  • Ensure configurations for Web Application Firewall (WAF), network segregation, and device security support a well-constructed overall security posture.
  • Utilize Azure services such as Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall and Azure Application Gateway, and Azure Front Door, for a secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Enhance security monitoring capabilities to detect abnormal behavior, suspicious activities, and potential security incidents.
  • Implement and maintain security monitoring and detection systems to ensure timely identification and response to security threats.
  • Configure Azure Security Center for continuous monitoring, threat detection, and security posture management.
  • Foster a security-first culture across the IT organization by promoting proactive security behaviors and encouraging reporting of security incidents or concerns.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to improve software quality and security, and secure development practices.
  • Supply input into requirements creation to ensure requirements address security.
  • Stay up to date with the latest security tools, techniques, and best practices.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and prioritization in all tasks to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and addressing any issues or concerns.
Experience, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in security roles, with experience in both Red and Blue team activities.
  • Security-related certifications such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker), or similar certifications are preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with application, system, and network security, including familiarity with cloud computing, Windows and Linux administration, and TCP/IP protocols.
  • Have a deep understanding of cyber threats, and the ability to communicate complex security concepts clearly.
  • Strong knowledge of security fundamentals and best practices.
  • Experience with Azure cloud security, including Azure Web Application Firewall, Azure Network Security Groups, Azure Security Center, Azure Application Gateway, and other Azure technology.
  • Familiar with on-premise security solutions such as Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) platforms.
  • Familiar with on-premise security tools like LogRhythm, ArcSight, Splunk Enterprise Security, or Elastic SIEM.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with project management and QA methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field and/or 5+ years equivalent work experience.
