JPC Partners is looking for a Linux System Engineer that will operate, manage corporate systems, servers, and related components to ensure highest levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure Linux and Unix system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: Strategy & Planning
Participate in and support capacity planning and the development of the short and long-term strategic goals for Linux systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
Operational Management and Support
Perform configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, networking, clustering, storage, and applications.
Work Closely with Senior Linux Engineer
Assisting Implementing policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure Linux and Unix system are secure through system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
AWS and or Azure Environment Administration
Perform and test system configurations, backups and restores to ensure system recovery.
Review and deploy Linux and Unix system releases and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.
Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all Linux and Unix systems.
Support application development teams and software throughout project lifecycles.
Monitor, test, and tune system performance; preserve and provide system log files as needed.
Recommend and execute modifications to Linux and Unix systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Conduct research on Linux and Unix-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.
Remain informed on technology trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices; advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams on their relative importance.
Ensure Linux and Unix-based systems comply with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance.
Ensure secure user access and role validation processes.
Work closely with Sr. Engineer and IT department regarding the Linux, Storage and Networking environments.
Experience Requirements:
3-5 years’ experience as a Linux, Unix systems administrator
Virtual and Hyper-Converged environment experience
Installation, configuration, and maintaining Linux and Unix Servers
Understanding and hands-on experience with Clustering and Load Balancers
Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting
Working technical knowledge and understanding of coding using Perl, CGI, C, and shell scripting.
Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware and standards, including DNS, SFTP, LDAP, and Active Directory
VMware Administration and support, vSphere 6 and 7x
