The System Network Engineer will help implement and maintain a multi-cloud network interconnecting various services and systems across these environments. The candidate must be experienced in network operations, and implementation of those networks with AWS, Azure, and Oracle Cloud using automation platforms in a progressive and collaborative Agile environment. You will be responsible for delivering network infrastructure that is optimized for performance and reliability while maintaining the safety and security of the operating environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Networking and Connectivity (Assisted Configuration)
-Configure basic network components (e.g., security groups, VPCs) according to templates or documented standards.
-Support connectivity issues and collaborate with the team on troubleshooting.
-Develop familiarity with cloud networking and connectivity best practices as it pertains to our company.
Monitoring and Issue Resolution
- Set up and maintain monitoring tools and dashboards, escalating complex issues to senior team members.
- Respond to alerts and troubleshoot routine issues, with guidance for more complex incidents.
- Use insights from monitoring tools to suggest performance improvements.
- Participate in call rotation to resolve issues from monitoring system.
Security Compliance and Basic Audits
- Follow cloud security practices as directed, focusing on operational tasks like managing access controls.
- Maintain familiarity with security standards and assist in compliance-related tasks.
Documentation and Team Collaboration
- Update documentation related to cloud infrastructure, monitoring setups, and security configurations.
- Assist team in preparing detailed documentation for complex projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- General understanding of networking concepts and practices
- Experience managing hybrid/multi-cloud networking solutions. Specifically, AWS, Azure and Oracle Cloud using provider consoles, API interfaces, and Infrastructure as Code
- Experience managing Cisco Networking components including but not limited to Cisco FirePower Threat Defense Firewall, Cisco FirePower Management Center, Cisco Secure Access, and Cisco Multicloud Defense
- Understanding of concepts of Cloud Best Practices across the areas of Cost Management, Security, Operations, and Tagging
- Ability to engage in team discussions, share insights and suggestions, and attend training sessions to expand skills.
- An inherent desire to learn new skills outside the focus of networking
- Experience with at least one automation/scripting/deployment language such as Python, Terraform/Terragrunt, provider IAC (AWS CloudFormation, Azure Resource Manager, and OCI Resource Manager), Go, PowerShell, etc.
- Exposure to implementing CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and/or code deployment via GitHub actions is a plus
- Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) environments is nice to have
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree preferably in Computer Science or a similar technical degree.
- 4+ years of experience in technology related roles.
- Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. With education like CCNA, CCNP or relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, Azure Network Engineer Associate)
